The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh is a pediatric rehabilitation facility in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that offers programs for rehabilitation, special education, learning disabilities, Prader-Willi syndrome and other special needs. Our expert staff works as a team to deliver innovative and motivational treatment to each child.
The Children’s Institute is world-renowned for our modern facilities and exceptional patient and family oriented approach to care. As such, The Children’s Institute receives patients from all over the world, some of whose families have little to no English proficiency. When this occurs, our staff relies on Echo International to provide professional onsite linguistic and cultural support. Interpreters are needed for a wide range of services: regular checkups, specialized therapy sessions, new patient admission and even long-term daily care, particularly with patients in rehabilitation following transplants and patients with Prader-Willi syndrome.
One complex case that Echo International supported us with was when a patient with Prader-Willi syndrome from Puerto Rico was admitted near the end of 2011. This was a unique case, as the patient’s family had to return to Puerto Rico and remain there during his multi-week stay. Had it not been for the team of interpreters assembled by Echo International, communication would have been very challenging. A member of Echo’s team was by the patient’s side for up to 11 hours per day, 7 days per week. Echo International was always responsive to our needs, easily accommodated schedule changes and was able to organize the schedules of six very qualified professional interpreters in an efficient manner.
This is just one of many cases in which Echo International has supported our interpreting services needs. Not only is their management team quick to respond and solution oriented, their interpreters understand the importance of remaining impartial, unbiased and confidential while having the heart and warmth needed for more emotionally involved assignments. We are always assured that a professional linguist will be secured for these assignments.
